The aspirator (sometimes called a 'pooter') enables you to pick up very small creatures without damaging them. 

Suction moves the subject up the metal tube and into the glass container for observation. Fine mesh across the rubber tube ensures the creature stays in the glass bottle.

Suction can be by mouth, or you can use the white bulb, by squeezing it and then releasing it to provide suction.
